Preparing Children for Dynamic Display Devices
Event Description:
Many students present as good candidates for speech generating devices (SGD), which is one form of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). This presentation will discuss the essential pre-requisite communication and motor skills for students with autism to be successful SGD users. Instructional techniques on how to teach these readiness skills will also be covered. The presentation will include video examples of students working on the skills that will promote independent SGD use and charted performance data.
