Educational Background: I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound (2004).
Relevant Professional or Work Experience: In 2005, I went to work at the University of Washington Autism Center as a therapy assistant in their early intervention research project. In 2006, I started my own business as a therapist/therapy assistant in the Southern. I travel to my clients' homes to work with their children, and attend team meetings as necessary. Some families also choose to include me as a member of their child's educational team, so I often attend IEP meetings and/or work with kids while they are at school in an effort to generalize the skills they are learning in their home program. I have experience working with children at all points on the spectrum. I am trained in many therapeutic methods, ranging from naturalistic play-based therapy to discrete trial, and have experience using the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices.
Relevant Personal Characteristics: I believe that in order to be a good therapist, you must have the right personality. That being said, I am an extremely patient, understanding person. Additionally, I am a strong advocate for my clients.
