Educational Background: I graduated from a private highschool in June of 2008 with a Honors College Prep Diploma, during highschool I was a part of the National Honors Society. In fall of 2008, I began attending college at Seattle Pacific University. I am currently finishing my second year there; I am majoring in English Creative Writing and minoring in Women's Studies and Professional Writing.
Relevant Professional or Work Experience: As far as work experience, I have had several jobs working in a daycare setting, teaching me some of the skills needed to work with children. For the most part though I have had quite a bit of experience working with children with special needs, including autism, in a volunteer setting. I volunteered with Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center for a couple of years, providing support, encouragement, as well as safety to the children who came to ride the horses. Last summer, I volunteered as a counselor at Camp Korey, in Duvall WA, during this camp session I was able to meet and interact with children with a variety of special needs ranging from autism and down syndrome to children with serious medical issues that required a lot of careful attention. I have also volunteered at bowling practice for Special Olypmics and have helped my friend nanny for a young girl with autism.
Relevant Personal Characteristics: I have always had a heart for children with special needs, particularly children with autism or down syndrome. I am passionate about helping these children and having the opportunity to provide them with the support and encouragement that they need to overcome the many challenges they face. Although I don't yet have professional experience as an ABA therapist; I would love to have the opportunity to receive training so that I could provide quality support to FEAT families. Besides my passion for helping children with autism, I believe that some of my personal characteristics that would help in working as an ABA therapist are my patience, my ability to look at things from multiple perspectives, my gentle and calm nature, my desire to show love and care to others, and my sincere belief and encouragement in the ability of others to progress.

Educational Background: I have a BS in business and most of what I've learned about autism comes from practical experience of raising my own autistic son who is now 14.
Relevant Professional or Work Experience: I've worked on my own for the past two years as a therapy assistant, private school aide, autism tutor and teaching art to kids on the spectrum varying in age from 3 to 11. I've worked with three different consultants in the Puget Sound area who have taught me the ins and outs of ABA therapy.
Relevant Personal Characteristics: As a mature adult, I've learned to always be patient and calm and that certainly helps with ABA therapy. I'm enthusiastic and nurturing both to your kids and also to you since I understand what you are going through as a fellow parent.
